The Civil Service College has announced a new portfolio of training and development titles that address issues faced by all public sector managers following the introduction of the Scottish parliament. The college has helped the governments of many countries round the world to manage change and it is now applying this experience on its doorstep at its centres in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Devolution, combined with the launch of the Modernising Government white paper, requires new ways of working from Scotland’s public servants. Policy makers and senior officials in the Scottish government, local authorities and UK departments and agencies active in Scotland need to understand the processes and functions of government. Officials will also need to consider the challenges of ‘joined-up government’ in a devolved environment.
The College’s new brochure, to be launched on June 4, features courses and other events on the machinery of Scottish government, accountability, legislation and Government processes, key personal skills and management development programmes.
