The Scottish Executive is seeking the views of children and young people as part of its review of youth crime. The review will focus on the options for dealing with persistent young offenders and there is particular interest in the degrees of support that young people give to the options. The review will take into account preventive policies and measures already in place in Scotland and will also look at funding and standards of service delivery.Statutory and voluntary agencies providing services for young people, police officers, children’s panel members, children’s reporters, procurators fiscal, sheriffs and justices are also being consulted, along with agencies offering support to victims of crime and other community groups. A report will go to Cabinet later in the spring.

A website has been established to give further information about the consultation process http://www.scotland.gov.uk/youth/crimereview   Responses are invited by 4 February from any person or agency who would like to comment on the issues involved.
