The Improvement and Development Agency is developing Knowledgenet – a one stop website providing information on performance, best practice and innovation in local government. The site, which will be launched later in the year, will include community engagement, performance improvement, social inclusion, sustainable development and information age government. Invitations to tender for the technology to support Knowledgenet have been issued.The aim of Knowledgenet is to build up a library of high quality case studies, guidance on key issues and a range of tried and tested tools and techniques. It will focus on evaluated case studies that demonstrate ‘what works’. By providing information on what other authorities are doing, it will offer the opportunity to network and share experience both off and on-line.
Knowledgenet will draw on support from the Local Government Association and from the Audit Commission. There will also be close co-ordination with the Cabinet Office.
The team developing Knowledgenet would like to receive ideas or views about the new service and to know who would like to be involved in the development of expert groups to support the service.
