The 10,000 strong Institute of Healthcare Management (IHM) is to hold a special conference in London next week to help managers spot the signs that would help them flush out where a clinician is failing their patients. The conference comes in the wake of the Harold Shipman case and will look at legal and professional regulatory considerations, how the coroner can help and other difficult issues such as whistle-blowing.

The event is organised by the IHM in an attempt to sharpen up clinical governance and make the NHS responsive to patient concerns and poor performance.

The event is in on April 6.
