The HM Prison Service is joining other public sector organisations in a benchmarking system that helps them reliably check consumption of water. They are joining Watermark, a project led by The Buying Agency, which helps ‘like’ organisations set realistic targets for water use, easing consumption.

As well as making use of data, the prison service will be contributing its own billing and meter data into the system.

Others already taking part include HM Treasury, DETR, DfEE, Metropolitan Police and Wiltshire County Council.
