A thirty million-pound contract has been awarded to build a large new magistrates court building in the centre of Manchester.The contract has been awarded by Manchester City Council but is sponsored by the Government as one of 13 PFI projects aiming to modernise old court buildings that lack modern facilities.
The new building, expected to open early in 2004, will have proper access for disabled people,provide separate waiting rooms for victims of crime and defendants and improve security.
CG4SC is a consortium comprising, as equal partners, Carillion, Group 4 Flack and Societe Generale. At the end of the contract they will be providers of serviced accommodation.
