A new report by a local government think tank indicates that public private partnerships are already more advanced in that sector than the current debate suggests. While opposition to proposed extension of private sector involvement in public service provision continues, a new publication by the New Local Government Network reveals just how far some projects are already an integral part of local government life.

‘Strategic Partnering for Local Service Delivery’ profiles ten case studies in detail – from conception, definition and contract to the delivery of targets and the lessons for future best policy and practice.

The report also observes how the methods of procurement and management involved in bringing about strategic partnerships have led to the development of new skills among public sector professionals.
