The RAF is using web technology to create better contact links for the families of service personnel. This month it launches a community support website, www.rafcom.co.uk , which is intended to bring RAF families within a keystroke of social support information.

It will also signpost the way to other sources of information about the kind of issues that families often need to know about, but have neither the time nor the expertise to research.

The RAF is keen to ensure that its developments are seen as a real improvement in its community offering. It’s seen as important to marry the anonymous, instant help of the Internet, with real personal support provided by a new network of professionally qualified community development workers. These will build on the existing service provided by chaplains, SSAFA and other agencies.
