The Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) and SOCPO have joined with MORI to bring authorities a low cost solution to finding out what staff think.MORI’s work with authorities as part of Best Value has already demonstrated that staff attitudes are a key component in targeting resources, building a more effective work force and increasing staff commitment.
By building up a detailed snapshot of how staff feel, authorities will be able to communicate more effectively at all levels and build staff commitment by including them in the consultation process.
The White Paper states Best Value reviews need to ‘involve those currently delivering services.this applies particularly in the case of frontline staff.’
The basic package includes scoping of the project, undertaking of the staff survey, analysis of findings and recommendations. It costs between six and ten thousand pounds.
It contains core questions developed by MORI and a number of questions unique to the authority can be added.
