The fire service in England and Wales has been given the go-ahead for a new national radio communications system compatible with equipment used by the other emergency services.After September 11 the three main emergency service organisations agreed that interoperability of radio communications was a priority.

The DTLR has now given the go-ahead for the procurement of a national radio communications system for the fire service.
