Staff in the National Health Service will this week get a chance to see and hear some of the world’s leading health experts through a special online broadcast. Keynote speeches from the international clinical summit to be held in London will be transmitted live online on Wednesday.

The two-day summit will be hosted by Health Minister Lord Darzi and has been organised to bring together leading figures from a range of clinical specialities and backgrounds from America, Canada and Europe as well as British experts. They will share their experience and learning with NHS staff and stakeholders involved in shaping the service through the ‘Our NHS, Our Future’ review. The programme will bring together the clinical pathway working groups leading the review in each strategic health authority region. The aim is to stimulate discussion on delivering the best outcomes for patients in England.

Speakers at the event will include David Levine, President and Executive Director of the Montreal Health and Social Service Agency and Dr Jack Cochran, Executive Director of the Permanente Federation who will talk about redesigning healthcare systems and how to create additional services outside hospitals. As well as the speeches being broadcast live, they will be available later from the website. http://www.livegroup.co.uk/internationalclinicalsummit

In addition to the international speakers, Lord Darzi will address the summit on Wednesday and the Chief Medical Officer, Liam Donaldson, will close the Tuesday session with Health Secretary Alan Johnson closing the summit.
