Crime data for London has been applied to a map of the capital and is available at http://www.zubedpi.com/ Although data has been available for along time, effort was needed to build up a picture of crime for a particular area. The new map, produced by Zubed Geospatial, provides instant views at the click of a mouse.

The website has been designed to meet the needs of those without a professional interest in crime such as residents, employers, and homebuyers so that they can immediately take the pulse of any location.

Data is presented on a ward basis with a range of ten colours indicating the level of activity. Types of crime include burglary, criminal damage, drugs offences, fraud, robbery and sexual offences. In addition to the ‘heatmap’, which allows users to instantly visualise each crime type across London, there is also a facility to zoom in and click on any ward to view tables of detailed statistics.

Zubed plans to extend the crime data map to include the rest of the United Kingdom.
