LYONS URGED TO ADOPT EUROPEAN CHARTER ON LOCAL SELF GOVERNMENT
A think-tank is calling for the reform of local government in England to be shaped by the European Charter on Local Self Government. The Local Government Information Unit has made the recommendation in its latest submission to the Lyons Inquiry and says it wants to see the Charter used as the framework for defining the future.

PLAN FOR INFORMATION SHARING ACROSS SERVICES PROMISED IN SPRING
The Government is to produce a comprehensive plan next spring for the sharing of information across the public sector as part of its strategy to combat social exclusion. The announcement came as it set out its commitment to making the best use of information across the public services to expand opportunities for the most disadvantaged people as well as for fighting crime and improving services.
