SERVICE HEADS WANT ‘COURAGEOUS’ GREEN PAPER ON CARE FUNDING

Social services directors have called for the proposed Green Paper on the funding of adult social care to be radical and courageous. John Dixon, the President of the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services said the launch by the Government of a widespread consultation ahead of the paper was the ‘end of the beginning’ of a long campaign for a more equitable and sustainable basis to funding.

SCHOOL SNACK BANS INCREASE IMPACT OF FRUIT TUCK SHOPS

Pupils at schools with fruit tuck shops are much more likely to use them if the school also bans them from bringing unhealthy snacks on to the premises, according to new research published online ahead of appearing in print in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health. Researchers say the findings highlight the need for schools to back up health interventions.
