COUNCILS ‘NOT DOING ENOUGH FOR YOUNG CARERS’

Local authorities are accused today of doing too little to support young people who help to care for their parents. Ofsted has published details of a survey in eight council areas and of 50 young carers and found inconsistent joint working between councils and their partners and a lack of awareness by some professionals.

RESEARCH QUESTIONS IMPACT OF POLICE ACTION AGAINST KNIFE VIOLENCE

A new study has found little evidence that police-led interventions to stop young people carrying knives work. The research from the Centre for Crime and Justice Studies at King’s College London concludes that a zero tolerance’ approach to weapons does not cut crime or change attitudes.

REVIEW OF CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE INFORMATION IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE

This report from the Department of Health sets out findings from a review of the systems in place for informing the commissioning, service design and policy decisions that drive service improvement towards meeting better customer needs and preferences. Customers include the overlapping groups of patients, service users, carers and the wider public as citizens, taxpayers and potential patients and service users.
