Currently Children’s Service directories are compiled by local councils and they consist mainly of the services they provide. They usually do not take account of services available from other providers, or the needs of children, young people, parents or carers. The Centre Social and Business Informatics at Newcastle University have completed a project to identify new possibilities for compiling Children’s Service directories to improve partnership working and increase efficiency. They have developed a framework for developing regional and sub regional directories to give a big picture of what is available from the statutory, voluntary and commercial sectors, to best meet the needs of the different audiences for the directories.
